Hello from Israel! Alli and I got in yesterday afternoon. The last few weeks were a whirlwind of emotion and organization and crossing off to-do lists, but thanks to a lot of help from a lot of people, especially our parents, we made it. All of the planning, all of the discussions, all of the work preparing seems to be paying off so far. Everything is going smoothly. We’re staying with our very good friends Elisha and Anat for these first few days, through Yom Kippur. They have been so great, kind and helpful to us. We just can’t thank them enough.
We had our first bout of homesickness already this morning as things began to sink in that we really here. One of the things that is perhaps the most overwhelming is being so completely surrounded by a foreign language. It feels like there is just so much information passing over and around us that we can’t access; I can appreciate a bit better what new immigrants to the states must go through.
Anyway, as promised in my last post here are some pictures. The first few pictures are from a going away party at Alli’s parents’ house. The last few are of the plane we flew on (to get to the big plane in Philadelphia that brought us to Israel).
